Language teaching methodologies

There are four main areas of language -talking, listening, reading and writing.

TALKING

Practicing speaking is one of the most fun and rewarding parts of learning English. The more you practice the better and more confident you will become in your pronunciation and vocabulary. English vocabulary is an important part of learning and understanding the English language. English language learners are inundated with English vocabulary every day in the real world through movies, media, and daily life. A student’s vocabulary grows over time and compiling vocabulary lists from resources like books or other texts and materials is a great way to strengthen vocabulary. It is a teacher’s job to make sure that students learn and understand this vocabulary. Teachers can reinforce new vocabulary through several comprehension exercises of any unfamiliar words. These exercises may also assist students with the learning and retention of these new words, by using teaching techniques such as vocabulary exercises, word searches, quizzes, and games.
Our teaching techniques are focused on increasing speaking English in classroom, as well as the pronunciation of words, and utilizing new vocabulary as much as possible. The classroom maximizes dialogue through a variety of techniques, including class discussions, presentations, small group discussions, pair work, group work, special projects, and task-oriented assignments.

READING AND WRITING

Reading and Writing classes focus on topics that are fundamental to English reading comprehension and writing capability. Instructors focus on writing topics such as the five paragraph essay, formal vs. informal English, writing for an audience, writing a resume/cover letter, etc. Instructors focus on reading topics on such topics as short stories, vocabulary, and reading ==comprehension. In order to choose the best possible materials, in=structors refer to an exhaustive list of approved class sets for their appropriate level and select individual chapters from the sets assigned to their level. Instructors supplement these texts with appropriate materials such as internet videos, magazine articles, academic texts, and photographs to enhance the course. Instructors are encouraged to adapt their lesson materials to reflect student interest.

SCIENCE

Science enables students to develop a deeper insight and wider perspective on social issues and culture around the globe and is an effective preparation for future study. We focus on critical thinking, effective communication, collaboration and creativity. Real-life scenarios, peer-to-peer teaching, hands-on activities, science projects and field research journals are effective teaching techniques in the science curricula. Instruction in science often can foster greater interpersonal skills and independent thought.

ARTS &CRAFTS

Arts and crafts is a fundamental part of our everyday lives and encouraging children to learn about them will only benefit them as they get older. Art can help a child develop their feeling skills while craft will develop their thinking and coordinating skills. Children are encouraged to explore a variety of materials and craft skills and the value placed on children’s artwork may be seen in the care with which it is displayed around the school.

LISTENING

English listening teaching techniques include class participation, demonstration, and collaboration. It is important for English learners to be able to speak with confidence and use the correct grammar structures so that they are understood correctly, but it’s also crucial that they understand what they are hearing so that they can respond appropriately. We use a wide variety of techniques and exercises that can help students improve and perfect English listening skills. These techniques include listening to audio in English, listening to native English speakers in person, watching videos with native English speakers, reviewing English vocabulary from previous lessons, watching and/or listening to news programs in English, responding to questions in English, and reviewing English grammar concepts.

MATHEMATICS

Guiding children through the maze of mathematical concepts can be a demanding task. Teachers, however, use several methods to ensure the process is rewarding. The ultimate goals of ma=thematics instruction are students understanding the material presented, applying the skills, and recalling the concepts in the future. Help students better understand math by presenting multiple examples, encouraging collaboration on alternative solutions, and framing the class with a clear agenda and effective summary. Abacus classes are also conducted in the school premises for those students who want to acquire more skill.

SOCIAL STUDIES AND SAUDI ARABIAN CULTURE

Usually focused on teaching history and geography at an early age, the core knowledge approach uses story, drama, reading, and discussion to teach about significant people, places, and events. Breadth of content and knowledge is emphasized. The curriculum is often organized according to the underlying logic of the content. The Expanding Communities approach organizes the curriculum around student’s present, everyday experience. In the younger grades, students learn about themselves, for example. As they move through the grades, the focus gradually broadens in scope: to the family, neighborhood, city, province, country, and globe. The curriculum also focus on exploring the fundamental history of Saudi Arabia .
